AdvancedMD Summer 2024 Release Information – New Features and Enhancements

This is a summary of the AdvancedMD Summer 2024 release, rolled out to users on June 11, 20, and 27, 2024. Below is every new feature and update across payments, scheduling, billing, the EHR, and patient engagement, with a plain description of what each one does.

If you only have time to look at a few, the ones that affect cash and denials most are the automated no-show charges, the redesigned eligibility screen, and the same-day claims rollup. The rest are quality-of-life improvements across scheduling, charting, and patient engagement.

Payments

AdvancedMD Pay, PAX A920 terminal. AdvancedMD Pay now supports card-present payments on the PAX A920 terminal, a device that combines a tablet with a card reader. It is being rolled out by invitation to existing AdvancedMD Pay clients first.

Payment plans with card on file. Users can run payment plans and charge a card on file through the Patient Billing Wizard, which bills the agreed monthly amount once per calendar month rather than the full balance.

Insurance virtual credit cards. AdvancedMD Pay can now process insurance virtual credit card payments directly in Payment Entry, split the payment across multiple patients, and track the remaining balance on the card.

Providers and administration

Application Services with Provider Add. Users with the right system access can add new providers directly in AdvancedMD, which gets a new provider operational in the office key faster.

Carrier Update Tool. The update lets you change a group of carriers at once instead of one at a time, which cuts the time spent on carrier maintenance.

Scheduling

Automated cancel and no-show charges. You can set charge codes and amounts that apply automatically to no-shows and late cancellations, with the option to adjust the fee at the time of cancellation, and track patients who miss often.

Time zone scheduler enhancements. A time zone dropdown in the provider list lets providers view their schedule in local time, shows patient appointments in the patient’s local time, and lets users set a preferred time zone for all appointments.

Time zone display across the scheduler. Local time now shows across AdvancedMD for both providers and patients, which reduces missed appointments caused by time zone confusion.

EHR scheduler quick view, local time. Providers can set their dashboard schedule to local time, adjusted automatically by the EHR global setting, with patient appointments shown in the patient’s local time.

Mobile scheduler, local time. Mobile scheduling now shows patient local time on appointment cards and adds a dropdown for setting provider time zones.

Billing, claims, and write-offs

Partial mass write-off. The Mass Write-off feature now supports partial write-offs, so you can write off a set amount or everything except a set amount.

Fee schedule import, missing CPT codes. The Fee Schedule Import now warns about missing CPT codes instead of blocking the import, so you can import the rest of the file without removing those codes by hand first.

Exclusions information screen. Security and compatibility updates to the Exclusions screen add shortcut keys and quicker access to patient, carrier code, CPID, carrier name, and phone details.

Rebill claims, resubmission code. The resubmission code field moved earlier in the workflow, so you can enter it when creating a single or mass rebill without opening the extra info section for each claim.

ERA Center, more visits per check. The ERA Center now shows up to 8,000 visits in a single check, which means fewer check splits and faster payment posting, useful for high-volume lab practices.

Same-day claims rollup, beta. In Practice Management beta, you can consolidate a patient’s visits from multiple providers on the same day into one claim, rolled up by CPT code, charge code category, or carrier, with added support for case management billing.

Eligibility

Redesigned eligibility details screen. A redesigned screen gives quicker access to plan, PCP, copay, deductible, co-insurance, active coverage, limitations, out of pocket, coverage basis, and contact info, with active benefits and mental health coverage from the payer easy to view.

Analytics and reporting

AdvancedInsight is now Analytics. AdvancedInsight has been renamed Analytics in the software and on the invoice, with no change to how it works.

CQR module in the EHR. The Clinical Quality Reporting module is now reachable from the EHR through a dropdown, so quality reports are easier to access and manage.

EHR and clinical

ePrescribing updates. Updates include better filtering and sorting on the eSend status screen, pharmacy search by address and NCPDPID, improved drug lookup, and new annotation features, based on client feedback.

Medication adherence review. Users can review medications the pharmacy actually dispensed, with RxFill details, to evaluate whether patients are following their prescribed treatment.

Chart timeline date view. Patient chart items can be viewed in order by created date, with medication refills shown on the approval date, which makes patient history easier to follow.

Global settings refresh. Global Settings have a cleaner look and a new menu that makes EHR settings easier to find and manage.

Electronic case reporting. Users can send patient case reports to state public health agencies automatically, which speeds up reporting and reduces manual work.

Annotations and message icons in chart view. Annotation and message icons now show in Folder View and on Patient Chart Cards, so important notes are visible to clinical staff at a glance.

Adjustable age range in growth charts. An adjustable age range bar in the Vitals card lets you focus on a specific timeframe when tracking growth.

Status column in Find Chart Item. A new status column in the Find Chart Item screen lets you sort and identify chart items by status.

Clear all checkboxes in chart print. You can now uncheck all items in Chart Print with one click, then select only what you want to print.

Clinical notes autosave, beta. Clinical note updates now save automatically, which prevents lost work and removes the need for manual saves.

Patient engagement

Patient forms auditing. Detailed audit actions give granular visibility into patient form management, with tracking of who did what.

Appointment reminder template security. A new role privilege limits editing of appointment reminder templates to authorized staff, which keeps messaging consistent.

Patient portal navigation, beta. The patient portal has updated navigation, faster performance, and a modern look for an easier experience.

Telehealth subscriber information. The telehealth workflow now prompts patients to complete missing insurance details, which improves accuracy and front-desk efficiency.

Worklist enhancements. Insurance card images and a new subscriber selection menu make it easier to add insurance records in the Patient Upload worklist.
