The AdvancedMD Fall 2025 release included updates across the Practice Management, Electronic Health Records, and Patient Engagement modules, deployed in waves on October 7, 16, and 23. Here is what shipped, summarized for the people who schedule, chart, and bill every day.
Practice Management
- AdvancedMD Pay refund enhancements: A refund button replaces the previous void process for credit card payments, supporting refunds for payments split across multiple visits or archived. Users can track whether the refund was issued via cash, check, or credit card.
- Single Sign-On (SSO): The system now integrates with SAML-based identity providers such as Microsoft Entra ID, so users can sign in with existing SSO credentials on the web and mobile app.
- Enhanced copay management: Different copay amounts can now be assigned by appointment type category, such as Medicare or Telehealth, so the correct amount applies during scheduling and billing.
- New report, Claim Inspector Errors Found Detail: A standard report that gives more visibility into claim error details, to help identify and resolve issues faster.
- Claims Center provider filters: A provider filter was added to the Claim Inspector and Exclusions tabs, so claims can be managed by a specific provider.
- Link unapplied payments to visit: When an insurance payment is un-applied, the visit number and EOB link now stay attached to the payment, preserving the data relationship.
- Facility NPI per carrier: Unique Facility NPIs can now be assigned by carrier or carrier category, which helps claim submission for specialties that need carrier-specific identifiers.
- Patient contact card update: Emergency contacts and next-of-kin information can now be viewed and edited from the patient demographic dashboard.
- Patient demographics enhancements: The demographics dashboard was reorganized, and patient cards now save in the user’s preferred order.
- Enhanced cancel and no-show automation: The calculation fee window can now exclude Saturdays and Sundays when applying fees for canceled or no-show appointments.
- In-application service requests: Forms were added so users can request add-on features, professional services, or implementation training from inside the application.
Electronic Health Records
- AI-powered pre-visit summary: Generates a summary of a patient’s recent history, including notes, labs, medications, allergies, and risk factors, for the provider to review before the appointment.
- ePrescribing Pro package enhancements: Adds compound prescribing, a weight-based calculator, duplicate therapy notifications, drug and imprint information, and pharmacy map locations.
- EHR launch for FHIR SMART apps: SMART on FHIR applications can now launch from within a patient’s chart, so third-party clinical apps integrate directly.
- New mental health templates: A collection of behavioral health assessments, scorecards, tools, and questionnaires was added to the Template Library.
Patient Engagement
- AI upload of patient insurance cards: A worklist shows insurance cards uploaded by patients. When images are scanned, an AI feature can prepopulate the insurance details for staff to review and save.
- Provider patient load and availability: The scheduler now shows provider availability and patient load percentages, with settings to help manage the schedule.
In Beta
- AI-generated transcript and summaries
- Enhanced scheduler
- AdvancedMD Pay split payments
- Fee schedule by locality
Turning a Release Into Results
A release note tells you what changed. It doesn’t tell you which of these your practice will actually use, or how to build the reporting and automation around them so the new features earn their keep. That is the gap the operator work fills. If the AI pre-visit summary, the copay-by-category rules, or the FHIR app launches map to something you have been trying to fix, the automation services page covers how these get built into a workflow, and the operator reports guide covers the views worth building on top of them.
